I took the Highlands Ability Battery (HAB) assessment during a period of career transition and working with Deb King to understand my results and how I could apply them to my job search was more helpful than I could have imagined. My HAB assessment results boosted my confidence in my natural abilities and highlighted the importance of doing work that aligns with what comes naturally to me. Ms. Deb was an integral part of the process as she took the time to explain each component of the assessment and where I could see that ability reflected in my work. She was able to highlight careers that may naturally align with my abilities but also helped me identify ways that I can feel fulfilled in my abilities outside of work. The HAB and coaching from Ms. Deb was a turning point in my recent job search journey and I was able to find a position that allows me to integrate almost all of my natural abilities! Thank you Ms. Deb!

Debra is an eloquent and enthusiastic coach of life. As a budding scientist, I worked with Debra using her key readings to identify points in my personal life and career that I could optimize for growth using her strategies from years of experience. Now I am equipped with the interpersonal, financial, and professional tools to aim for that section chief position I want to see myself in 10 years time. Debra is incredibly well-versed in all aspects of career and personal coaching, especially in those tricky overlapping areas between the two that most don’t even know exist… thus personal coaching can improve your career, and vice versa. Investing in myself earlier in my career than most would think to seek coaching was nothing short of a blessing. There is no “right” time to seek Debra, but the BEST time is NOW!

I have had the privilege of knowing Deb for ~30 years. She is a person that consistently shows up as her authentic self and that stays committed to her True North.  She masterfully navigates Corporate America, Academia, team and one-on-one conversations.  She creates safe spaces for people and teams to explore, create and most importantly grow.  She is able to use her coaching, mentoring, training and communication skills to help individuals have honest, open and transparent crucial conversations.  She is a life-long learner and continues to hone her skills to ensure that her clients receive her best and the best learnings available.  The thing I love most about Deb is she is generous, whether it is sharing her finances, knowledge, network or her most valuable asset, her time.  She has been my personal mentor and a member of my Board of Directors for many years.  She has help me navigate my personal and professional journey.  Her right-size approach has supported my journey from new hire to now a executive in one of the largest corporations in the world.  I have been so impacted that I have leveraged her services for all of my children. Using Deb’s services in an investment in your future that is sure to pay off.

I have truly enjoyed having Debra King as my mentor and business coach. Not only did she take the time to get to know me, my company, and our market position; but she also inspired me to take a deeper interest in my own business. I found Ms. King to be an effective communicator, a great listener and subject matter expert as it relates to operations, finances, and human resource matters. In my opinion, her extensive professional background offered real life examples which helped me better visualize the opportunities available to me and my company.  There are no words that can express the debt of gratitude I have for Ms. King!  She has been an amazing addition to the growth and success of my business.

I truly believe in the power and abilities of people, their capacity to learn and to help others so at a time when I needed it most I met Deb.  I was immediately impressed with Deb’s energy, experience and perspective the first time I met her.   And when I learned that she had her own consulting and coaching business I did not hesitate to seek her services.   I am truly better for the experience!

Deb provided clarity up front in terms of what she can offer to a potential client to ensure there is a fit and aligned decision on how to proceed forward.  As a mentor she provides practical and sound advice based on years of experience.  She is an amazing listener and mentoring comes naturally to her with the true care and interest in her mentees success.  As a coach after aligning on my near-term and longer-term goals upfront, she tailored a coaching plan to meet my specific needs and goals in a set of weeks.  She goes well beyond just teaching you a few techniques and sending you on your way.  And you will need to put in the work in the way of homework that enables Deb to guide you to outcomes that are applicable to assuring you are your best you.

Her coaching not only helped me learn new ways to interact with people and to work more effectively recognizing their needs, she also provided tools and methods I am incorporating into my life that addresses my mind, body and soul.  I learned more about myself that I honestly did not even realize despite my experience and success to date.  For example, even though I know people have different learning channels, Deb helped me understand that I have been compensating for years to learn by my least effective channel.  We confirmed my most effective learning channel and how I can adjust to leverage this channel more for myself and communicating with other how best to educate me.   It is just one example of what a good coach and mentor can offer someone.

Deb is following her calling and I am so grateful to have met and benefited from her abilities and experience.  She continues to pursue and learn how she grows her knowledge, expand her experience and offer various assessments a certified coach that can provide clients insights that she can work with them to learn and take meaningful actions to meet ones goals & needs.  I am applying what I have learned and I am paying it forward by sharing with those that I mentor.  And I now have an impactful identity declaration that affirms who I am that I joyously declare to myself and with others that is a great accumulation of my learning and experience.  I have a renewed focus, clarity on what is next for me and how I will continue to be the best me personally and professionally. I am happy to be a reference for Deb and will refer people to her.

Can you believe it…

After a year now, colleagues are still talking about the impact your speech had on them last year during the Black History Month Celebration.

For some people, they had answers to their questions during the amazing moment of exchange we shared last year, and for others,  the reading of your book “Dare to Climb” inspired them.

But I would like to share with you , the impact you and your book had on my daughter and I.

First of all, my daughter will be at university next year, she is planning to become a doctor, she was so inspired and motivated after reading your book, that she told us that she does not wish to be a simple doctor, she wants to go further and become a neurologist!!!! As parents, we told her that we are by her side and gooooo!!!

For me, by writing you this message, I am smiling….I never though, that one day, I will be willing to go back to school. I started the process to be selected in a cohort of 20 people to do an Executive MBA, can you believe it.

I was already grateful to have you as a coach and mentor 20 years ago, because you always pushed me to surpass myself and excel….Today you still have the same impact and with your book you are touching the new generations.

Thank you so much.

I wanted to express my deep appreciation for the insightful discussion we had regarding my HCES Report.

I am truly grateful for the time you took to explain my natural talent profile and the difference between abilities and skills to me.

Your guidance and expertise were invaluable in helping me to identify and understand my unique strengths and abilities and to define the best work environment for my peak performance.

I found the discussion on my Personal Style Report Overview to be especially enlightening, as it brought light on areas where I can improve.

The report’s analysis of my interests, values, and abilities has been incredibly helpful in providing me with a clearer picture of the types of careers that may be a good fit for me.

I wish I had known about this report many years ago, as it could have saved me a lot of time and effort in trying to figure out the best career path for me.

Thank you again for your time and support. Your dedication to helping others find the right career is truly appreciated.

I have had the privilege of knowing Deb for many years — first as my supervisor, then as a mentor and friend. First and foremost, Deb cares for people. Her focus on developing and supporting others is a consistent theme and point of praise and gratitude from the many of us who have had the privilege of knowing and working with her.

In my view, Deb has a unique way of maintaining the bigger picture while creating a plan of actionable steps to help people achieve their higher goals. Her attention, care, and support have instilled confidence and challenged me to step into my power and purpose.

As a mentor, Deb consistently provides insightful guidance and advice that has helped me grow both personally and professionally. She willingly shares the wisdom and knowledge she has developed over the years, and I consistently benefit from the depth of her experience.

In addition to her mentorship, I value Deb as a wonderful friend. She is kind, compassionate, wise and measured. Her positive energy is contagious, and whenever I hit a major life challenge, I know that I can count on her to help lift me up and refocus my energy.

I cannot recommend Deb highly enough as a mentor and friend. She has made a tremendous impact on me, and I am grateful to have her in my life.

The Highland Ability Battery has been an extremely valuable tool for us to use with our twin teenage daughters, not only in terms of career and college selection, but also in that it has opened up insight to each of their unique learning processes/preferences. Ms. King was purposelful and thoughtful throughout every step of the process and made it super comfortable for our daughters, which is not always easy to do with teenage girls. Ms. King also carefully explained the results and the tools available to each of our daughters and they each came away from this experience with more confidence in who they are and where their future is headed. As parents, we are very grateful for the HAB AND especially Mrs. King for walking us through the results. There is an incredible amount of information which could have seemed intimidating, but she helped us narrow down the key sources to focus on for each of our children. It is a seamless process that can really help direct teens towards careers and fields of study that will make the best use of their natural strengths. We are very fortunate to have been able to offer this tool to our twin girls and would highly recommend Ms. King and HAB to other parents of high schoolers.

Working with Debra King is an absolute pleasure. Not only is she an excellent human being, she’s also a confident and successful professional who shares her experiences and insights with those around her. I had the pleasure of working with Debra as a mentor/mentee curator. Every student that interacted with Debra only had good things to say about her. She had the highest return rate of students who wanted to meet with her again. Through the program Debra mentored individuals in career development; she was a guest lecturer in many classes and programs—speaking to a variety of topics from the basics of adulting, to careers in communications, and more. She strives to improve students’ professional development and their lives—she takes their successes personally, helping them reach their goals. There is no such thing as a one-off relationship when it comes to Debra; she is truly devoted to helping those around her develop and thrive.
